Turtle Lake Organized Hamlets Have Concerns About Annual Property Tax Allotment and Request to Meet With RM of Mervin
9 of the TurtleLake Organized Hamlets have requested by letter, to the RM of Mervin to meet regarding the RMs proposed municipal percentage Property Tax allotment.
Hamlets are looking for clarity regarding the process, calculation and identified services the RM has used to arrive at these allocations.
As per the Municipalities Act the Percentage of the Organized Hamlet’s share of the annual property tax allotment can range from 40 to 75% depending on services supplied by the RM. Historically the RM of Mervin has assigned that the various Organized Hamlets within Mervin will receive 40%, the minimum allocation allowable.
